Youth Programming

We are now ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR COMING OF AGE MENTORS for our program for seventh and eighth graders. The program assists our young people as they move from childhood into adolescence and are faced with new choices, new opportunities and lots of work on who they are and who they want to be. One aspect of the bi-annual program is an adult mentor for each young person. Each mentor is paired with a young person and acts as a partner, companion and coach. We are doing the mentor matching differently this year so we have a more diverse pool of potential mentors. If you are an Atkinson adult, who has been active in the congregation for at least one year, I encourage you to apply to become a mentor to one of these great young people. The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, November 23.

The junior youth advisors, Rev. Dana and I will match each youth with an adult.

Mentors must agree to:

• sign a Code of Ethics form;
• complete and pass a background check;
• attend an orientation on January 11 from 12-1:30; and
• be available for a approximately six Sunday morning sessions (10:30-11:45); and
• one or two Saturday morning work parties between January and May.

Mentors who have been matched with a Coming of Age youth will be notified by December 23.
