Atkinson Membership

There are many ways for you to explore whether Atkinson is for you. Look for the VISITOR sign on the table in the Dome Room after church services. The table is staffed by members who can answer your questions about the church and put you in touch with staff and members.

• Visitor Cards
  The best way to get in the loop at Atkinson is to fill out a Visitor Card located in each pew and at the Visitor Table. This card gives us your basic contact information and tells us a little about what you are looking for in a church.

• Newcomers’ Welcome Desserts
  Each quarter, our minister hosts a casual dessert evening in her home for conversation about the journeys that have brought you to visit Atkinson. By filling out a Visitor Card, you will be invited to the next Dessert and UU & Atkinson 101 class.

• UU & Atkinson 101
  You can explore membership at Atkinson during this two-hour class. You’ll hear about our faith, our church and what it means to be a member. Please ask for a schedule of these events at the Visitor Table.

• Adult (Lifespan) Religious Education
  Our goal at Atkinson is to provide learning opportunities for all ages wherever they may be on their spiritual path. We provide an ever-changing variety of seminars, book studies, and spiritual practices classes.

• Children and Youth
  Every Sunday nursery care is provided for infants through three year olds staffed by warm and experienced caregivers.
  
  During the 10:30 a.m. Sunday church service, children from preschool to eighth grade meet with their peers in classes led by volunteer teaching teams of four adults.Through age appropriate curriculums, our children gain an understanding of Unitarian Universalism, world religions, and their own place in the world.
  
  High School students meet together weekly as a youth group exploring spirituality and religion.

• Covenant Groups
  To foster closer ties within the church and further our spiritual growth, many small groups meet twice a month in Covenant Groups. We share our lives while exploring spiritual and moral ideas. New groups start frequently and each group leaves an open seat for you.

• So Much More… From Social Justice, to Pastoral Associates to our music program, Atkinson offers many venues for exploring fellowship and a deeper understanding of the spiritual. We have men’s and women’s groups, meditation classes, dinners, parties, picnics and camping – too many to list here. Please join us and find out for yourself what Atkinson is all about.
