AMC Board of Trustees
The board of trustees is the body through which the members of the congregation work their will. It promotes and seeks to gain the cooperation of all organizations and members of the congregation in continuing projects, operations and special programs. The board consists of eleven members: the moderator, moderator elect, treasurer, clerk of the church, and seven members at large. All members are active members of the church, with designated liaison responsibilities determined by the board. The board meets every third Thursday at 7 p.m.
Responsibilities of the board include: Carrying out the vision of the congregation, seeing that the mission of the congregation is developed and implemented and that its goals are carried out in a timely and effective way, considering matters of congregational policy, delegating responsibility for the work of the congregation, reviewing and evaluating the work of the congregation, and ensuring that the congregation meets its financial and legal responsibilities.
Each trustee is obligated to: Attend and participate in all board meetings and congregational events, accept legal responsibility for being informed about and supporting the actions and decisions made by the board whether present at the meetings or not, serve actively as a member of such committees as appointed to, be a leader in giving and asking for financial support of the church, and be a member of the congregation who is sympathetic to the congregational mission and the UUA Principles and Purposes.

Scott Borduin joined Atkinson in 2001 along with his wife, Cay, and two boys, Stu and Jake.
They moved to Oregon in 1992 and plan to stay and grow old here. Scott left his long-time work in the software profession
in 2005 to co-found Democracy Talking, a small non-profit organization dedicated to improving public policy through grass roots
conversation, collaboration, and education. Scott enjoys his volunteer work as Atkinson web master, food gopher for Helping
People Eat, and school classroom helper. Scott was raised in a conservative Evangelical Christian tradition, and now believes strongly
in the UU marriage of compassionate values with personal reason and conscience. He looks forward to helping Atkinson grow as
a congregation, and expand its impact in the larger Oregon City and Porland communities.

Dean DeSantis grew up in Salem, Oregon with a Catholic upbringing and education.
After graduating from the University of Oregon he spent the next six years working and traveling abroad in over
20 countries. Through this experience Dean developed a deep appreciation for the world's wisdom traditions, both

Allanya Guenther and her beloved of
22 years, Skyler Freimann, joined Atkinson Church in 2005 after
a long search for a spiritual home suitable to Allanya’s Christian
background and Skyler’s Hindu view of the world. Both were
amazed and suspicious at first about WHY they felt immediately comfortable
at Atkinson but decided to join anyway. They are happily Unitarians
now.
Allanya has worked in nonprofit agencies for over 30 years, holding
a variety of program, administrative and leadership positions. She
excels at nonprofit fundraising and is eager to put her skills to
work for Atkinson. This is Allanya’s first experience being
a Board member rather than staff to a Board, but she is a quick
study and expects to figure it all out in no time
Allanya enjoys time with her extended family in the area (including
two elderly gentlemen dogs), reading historical novels and biographies
as well as escapist literature, attending eclectic and classical
music concerts, dance performances, eating out and filling her yard
with quirky yard art that she rescues and rehabs as well as creates. |
