Bryan Powell
Family and Job info:Bryan Powell joined Atkinson in 2001 along
with wife, Janice Weis, and their two daughters, Devyn and Jenna.
After teaching youth RE for several years, Bryan decided to tackle
something more relaxing and predictable like church finances. When
the church Treasurer job became too predictable, Bryan agreed to
serve as church Moderator. Bryan enjoys the strong opinions and
independent thinking, diversity of ideas, and shared liberal values
that thrive in the Atkinson community. As Atkinson embarks on its
dream of a major capital campaign for building and community renewal,
renovation and growth, Bryan looks forward to working with other
church members to make this dream a reality. For his day job, Bryan
is an attorney at a downtown Portland law firm.

Jim Russel, his wife Carolyn, and their children Amanda and Nicholas, knew on their first visit to
Atkinson Memorial Church five years ago they found their spiritual home, having been drawn to Atkinson's strong community spirit and
supporting Unitarian principles and values. Jim's work on the membership committee has further convinced him there are millions of
people who are also Unitarians, they just don't know it yet. Jim is a Principal with a global consulting firm with expertise in
strategic benefit planning. He has a business degree from Drake University and a MBA from the University of Portland.
Raised in Colorado along with seven other "feisty" siblings, Jim has lived in Oregon since 1983, enjoying time with family and outdoor
activities of all types.
